Onsite offers both pre-designed courses outlined here as well as mentoring and training tailored to your staff’s needs.

Guiding

Guide training packages are one day and cover tour and theme development, visitor interaction, public speaking. The two day package allows more individual tutoring and has additional focus on story-telling, using props and interpretation planning. All attendees on both options present part of a tour; therefore maximum participants is 6.

Interpretation planning and practice

This two day training provides an introduction to interpretation theory and practice, with a strong focus on effectiveness. Strategic planning components will cover assessing goals, stakeholder engagement, visitor analysis, establishing point of difference and considering behaviour management. The second day includes the content from the one day project management course.

Interpretation project management

This one day course is designed for participants who have a project in mind and need support to progress this. It involves a review of the project goals and chosen interpretation techniques, tips for researching, working with designers and contractors, writing and production techniques. As one to one advice on the projects is given the maximum attendees is 8.

Expert training

Lynda has run interpretation training course throughout New Zealand as well as Japan and Jamaica. She taught the interpretation paper as part of Lincoln University’s Bachelor in Parks and Recreation for two years and was a guest lecturer for 20 years. In the UK she organised workshops for the Society for Interpreting Britain’s Heritage and has facilitated specialist workshops on interpretive writing, learning styles and evaluation for the Interpretation Network New Zealand.
